Southwest Mesa is the place to be 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 06, 2014) I resided off of West Guadalupe Road in Southwest Mesa, Arizona. I enjoyed the attractions, community experience, restaurant choices, night life, and available shopping. There are many attractions including the Mesa Arts Center, Saguaro Lake Trail Rides, Mesa Golfland SunSplash, ...Read More Arizona Museum of Natural History, Cactus League spring training baseball, and multiple golf courses.

At the Mesa Arts Center, I took advantage of the multitude of acts that came through each year. Namely, in 2014 I have already gotten tickets to attend Crosby, Stills and Nash, along with Lyle Lovett. My family and I frequent the Tonto National Forest at Saguaro Lake Trail for horseback riding. There are multiple desert trails, and all have views of the Saguaro Lake and Goldfield Mountain. We all know about the heat in Arizona, so the Mesa Golfland SunSplash provides my family some relief. In addition to the water fun, I have used the bumper boats, and arcade which offer games from the 1980's. When my family is in town from Ohio, I have taken them to the Arizona Museum of Natural History.

There are exhibits on natural and cultural history. My nieces and nephew stay interested the entire time due to the hands-on learning the museum staff offers. Personally, I love March, when spring training baseball is here, and I can go watch my beloved Chicago Cubs struggle. Although I do not get the opportunity to play much, Mesa does have two municipal golf courses. The Dobson Ranch Golf Course has 18 holes of golf, and the Riverview Golf Course nine.

When it is time to dine out, I recommend the D'Vine Bistro on the southeast corner of Power and McDowell. We like spicy food, and frequently eat at Los Dos Molinos. They have my favorite chips and sauce, as well as very thick, fresh, flour tortillas. A third suggestion is the Cornish Pasty. It has a coal miner theme, unique beer offerings, and about 30 baked meals, for instance England's version of a calzone.

I like to shop, and do so at the Superstition Springs Center, Shop Fiesta, Mesa Market Place. Yet the best option is downtown Mesa, where I can find an array of stores to frequent.

For night life, I like "Toby Keith's - I Love This Bar and Grill". I found the prices reasonable, and the atmosphere fun. Also, Desert Eagle Brewing Company has a good selection of beer. The one negative is that there is no food available. Yet when my son is in town, we always spend an hour or two catching up on our life while downing a couple of beers. Read Less
