Denver, CO: Mile High!

Denver has long been one of the top cities for resident in the United States. This capital city of Colorado is often referred to as the Mile-High City for its high elevation above sea level. Approximately 700,000 people call Denver home, and the city continues to attract new residents who want to experience all the wonderful things that the area has to offer.

Many neighborhoods around the city feature homes that are ideal for people from all walks of life. The cost of living throughout much of Denver is slightly higher than the average U.S. city, but affordable housing can still be found in many places. Some of the lowest rents and home prices can be found in the Goldsmith, Sun Valley and Villa Park neighborhoods. For residents who have some extra money to spend, Alamo Placita, Cherry Creek and Washington Park feature some of the best places to live in Denver.

Denver is also known for its four distinct seasons and varied climate conditions. Winters are often cold and snowy with low temperatures dipping well below freezing and annual snowfall totals measuring around 62 inches. Temperatures in the spring can range from the low 50s to low 70s, and this is the time of year when the city gets most of its rainfall. Summers are generally warm, sunny and pleasant, but temperatures can sometimes exceed 100 degrees. Things start to cool down again in the fall with low temperatures sometimes dipping below freezing.

There are many transportation options that make getting around the city easy. Interstates 25, 70 and 270 funnel large amounts of vehicular traffic each day through parts of Denver and beyond the city limits. Buses and light rail trains provide public transportation. Domestic and international flights pass through Denver International Airport. Denver is also known for its walkability and ideal conditions for bicyclists.

Some of the local residential communities are situated near many of the best places in Denver for sightseeing. Several art galleries can be found in the Art District on Santa Fe. Sakura Park is home to a small Japanese garden and also hosts the annual Cherry Blossom Festival every June. Cheesman Park, City Park and Civic Center Park are among the city’s top parks.
