I hate it. I’ve been stuck here too long. 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 14, 2022) I have been stuck here since childhood, it’s not a good place to live and raise a family. Working to get out, hopefully this year. This place is a black hole, impossible to escape. People are rude, the neighborhood where we live has progressively gotten worse over the years. E ...Read More xtremely ghetto, section 8 across the street, broke the door off, busted the window out, won’t use the door anymore they just climb through the busted window instead. Yard is crap, big dog that breaks out of the broken fence, one day they sped in their car and headed towards my kids to scare them on purpose because they have a problem with us. Nothing can be done about it, I’ve tried. (Small side note to consider I’m on assistance until I finish my degree, I can’t even get into section 8 because the wait list is so long so seeing this kind of thing irritates me to no end.) Have another neighbor who plays music at all hours of the day and night so loud my head is thumping. Doesn’t care that anyone may have to work or kids may have school, just keeps playing music until all night until morning. I’m so sick of this place. Not to mention corrupt politicians and officials in this town. The old mayor was indicted for embezzlement. The old mayor in the neighboring city burned down his own restaurant for insurance money and was caught. It’s over populated, littered and gross because people don’t care about the environment. Education is lacking in all grade levels, Tk-college. Employment opportunities aren’t good here, many people choose to commute and anymore it’s so hard to do that because the amount of people traveling back and forth on the I-15 makes it so congested it takes over an hour to get through the Cajon Pass anymore. I’m done, I can’t wait to get away from here, it’s depressing and I don’t want my kids to have to suffer being here. A man was shot to death by police across the street from my kid’s dad’s apartment complex while they were visiting. A girl was murdered down the street from where we live a couple weeks ago. Not to mention they drop off prisoners and homeless by the bus load daily and release them here to fend for themselves. There’s homeless camps everywhere in the desert and no place to really help them because why would any rich officials try to help them? That would cut into their kids trust fund. I called cops hours ago about a noise complaint and still nothing has been done. I hope this helps anyone looking for a place to live. Don’t get sucked into this place, it’s awful and anyone who says it’s not, they’re a different breed. Don’t move here, it’s not worth it, trust me. Maybe 15-20 years ago it was okay but now that everyone has moved here because it was “cheap” it’s horrible. Read Less
Wouldn't Want to Live Here! 0.5 rating By Hopper ( Aug 16, 2015) Victorville reminds me of Mexico. I don't have anything against Mexican people, but I don't speak Spanish and don't want to live in a Mexican culture community. About 95% of the community living and working there are Mexican. I noticed a lot of the Mexican people working in the c ...Read More ommunity has a negative attitude. One restaurant I ate at while visiting the area, the hostess was playing with her hair in between serving the guests their drinks and chips. The Dressbarn workers in that area are the some of the rudest workers I ever met. If your into the Mexican culture and people then the high desert area is for you. Read Less
Victorville CA - A Cool Place for Families 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 09, 2010) Me, my wife and our three boys ages 9, 7 and 3 went to Victorville to visit family this past June. It is a really small town type place, but we really enjoyed the slow family life of the community.

Mojave Narrows Regional Park is a really small but a nice little place. They have great bird watching and scenic views. Scandia Family Fun Center was a fun time for the kids. My wife and I soon grew tired of the noise level and lack of things to do, but it kept the kids preoccupied for hours. Victor Bowl is a great place and everyone in the family had a good time. It was a little old fashioned, but it had a nice snack bar and a gaming arcade.

Overall, Victorville is a nice little place to go with family and friends, I would recommend it. Read Less

Compare Victorville, CA Livability

      vs

      Victorville, CA

Victorville is a city of over 115,000 people that is located in the San Bernadino Valley. While it may not be as flashy or as well-known as some of California's other leading cities, it does offer its residents a high quality of life at prices that are low for the state. The city is larger than neighboring Apple Valley and Hesperia, and it is one of the areas that offers a lot of employment opportunities for people throughout the valley.

Schools are one of the main employers in the city with the elementary school, high school, and college being some of the most notable. The California Route 66 Museum is located in Victorville, and the museum employees a handful of knowledgeable staff members who can tell you all about the iconic road that shaped the American West. LifeStream Blood Bank is one of the area's largest medical providers, and they offer a lifesaving service to the residents of this town.

Those looking to live in a quiet and family friendly area of the city should consider living in the George Air Force Base Neighborhood. This decommissioned military base has some of the area's nicest homes and parks. Greentree East, Eagle Ranch, and Golden Mesa are another set of neighborhoods that get solid reviews from the people who call them home. In general, home prices in Victorville are a fraction of the price of what you would pay in larger cities to the west in California.

Traffic is another plus for living in Victorville because it is almost non-existent. You can hop in your car, head out your garage, and know that you are going to get to your destination on time since there are no major areas for chokepoints or bottlenecks. If driving is not your idea of a good time, you can get around town on the VVTA system of busses and shuttles. They offer cheap and reliable service throughout the area.

Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch may be one of the most eclectic art collections in the entire State of California, and it is an attraction that cannot be missed by those who are living in the area. The Mojave Narrows Regional Park is a great place to sneak away in an attempt to escape the desert heat. The park has a beautiful lake and picnic tables that are popular with young families.

University Prep, Sixth Street Prep, and the Endeavor School of Exploration are just a few of the very highly rated schools in Victorville. Students who attend these schools typically perform very well on state exams. West Palms Conservatory and Galileo Academy 101 are charter schools that also have a reputation of excellence.
