Known as Utah's Happy Valley, Provo is an up-and-coming city that is great for families and young working adults. Located about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City, Provo is home to Brigham Young University, one of the largest private schools in America. The predominantly Mormon school has seen a transformation in the city as more and more non-members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints move to the area to take advantage of affordable home prices, good schools, and a high quality of life.

One of the most appealing aspects of Provo is its proximity to Utah's thriving IT economy. The Silicon Slopes are located a quick 15 minute drive north on I-15 making Provo a launching pad for those who want to explore a career in this fast growing field. In addition to BYU, Provo is near Utah Valley University that offers students a four-year degree program without the religious affiliation. For those who have just moved to Provo, one of the first things you should do is check out the University's Creamery and enjoy some delicious ice cream.

Provo is located at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, and there are spectacular views to be had throughout the city. One of the most prominent features that is visible from all parts of the city is the large Y that is painted on to the side of the mountain above. If you are looking to get away in nature for a few hours, it is a relatively simple hike to get up to the Y from the city.

One of the city's most appealing aspects is the lack of traffic and relative easy commute. For those who do not want to rely on a vehicle as their primary method of transportation, Provo has a large number of bus routes that are operated by the Utah Transit Authority. The FrontRunner train also has a Provo station at the southern end of the route that will get you to Salt Lake City in about one hour.

Home prices tend to become more expensive as you get closer to the mountains since the views are extremely desirable. If you are a skier, you will love getting away up Provo Canyon to ski at the ski resort. Timpanogos Cave is another nearby attraction that is very popular with people who call Utah home.
