Newton is a great place to live, work and visit.

Newton is a great place to live, work and visit. Each of the 13 villages has its own little main street/business districts, community events and activities. The city values green space and its natural features such as Crystal Lake, Bulloughs Pond, and many parks with beautiful walking trails. There is a farmer's market - two locations in the summer and one indoor market in the winter. Most of the residents live within walking distance to the green line, commuter rail or bus routes - easy access to downtown Boston. Kids have many options for sports and intramural events. There is a local history museum and the unique Metropolitan Waterworks Museum. Many neighborhoods have homes that are historical and architectural gems. The local Newton Free Library as well as the many colleges, churches and synagogues and museums in the area offer many opportunities to attend lectures, concerts, art shows, July 4 fireworks, bird watching and many venues for taking canoes and kayaks out on the river and ponds. Many of the local restaurants are spectacular. The city and local organizations such as the Newton Conservators, Bike Newton, and the Green Decade/Newton are constantly working to green up the city.
