I lived and worked in Medford for 4 years, 2015-2018. It has its good points and bad points. There is a bad meth epidemic and a lot of heroin junkies also. The people are generally friendly. The hospital facilities are very good. There is a strong Christian community there, ...Read More
enough so that several times people would approach me on the streets or in stores, asking me "What church to you go to?". There is almost no ethnic diversity. As for the local "cuisine", the best Chinese food available (unless you make it yourself) is at Panda Express. There are fires in surrounding areas every summer, which combined with temperatures near or over 100 can be very unpleasant. Winters aren't too bad, some snow and ice but tolerable. One huge advantage is that there are almost no traffic problems.
Overall, I'm not sorry to not live there now. There were a couple of sandwich shops that are very good (R & D and Luigi's) but generally if you want very good food, you have to make it. Many people who live there and in Jackson County's other towns like it very much. It just didn't interest me enough to want to continue living there.

As it seems to me that just about everything important (and also boring) that can be said about Medford OR has already been stated, I will add my two cents worth for what I feel is important, and not what has been stated about the place already.

Crabs City) for over 8 years and it has some very good things going for it.
It is VERY easy to go out and get drunk here, and used pants are really cheep at the VAC and Goodwill (I go though a lot of them as you might guess) and if you mind your own business -don't rob or have sex with someone just because they're laying round passed out drunk or dead) you'll get along with people just fine here.
The cops here have a very matter of fact -and safe- way of dealing with the others, (what we and the cops call suburbanites who relocate here but refuse to drink with us, have sex with us or mow they're own damn lawns!)
The cops -understandably- go out of their way to avoid those people- or doing ANYTHING for the others at any time! But with the locals, some of which have been drinking with them most of their lives, all I can say is that the locals think Medford cops are tops, and as for me, they have NEVER, not ONCE, bothered me for public intoxication or public pissing, which I think is a really wonderful thing, much better then the cops in Reno NV, because you do not have to have sex with the Medford cops just to be left alone!
Medford does have one small downside, Medford is called "The Crabs City" for a reason, I (though no fault of my own) have had them 15 times (and scabies 6 times) so you need to be really careful who your talking-or drinking with- in a public place, because they (the crabs or scabies) jump on you! And even after a bath and going to church (I was not even drinking at the time) I STILL got them (the crabs) as did half the congregation, and they where REALLY mad at me for a time, but they also knew I was a man of God (and that I ALWAYS shared my drink with ANYONE) so I guess they forgave me, they just asked me to stay away for a while.
Well, I hope this helps someone who is thinking of moving here, best damn drinking town in the USA!

I am an avid fan of farmer's markets; fresh fruits and vegetables. I decided to travel to Medford, Oregon, which is known for it's pears. I went to Harry and David's for a factory tour and free taste tests of their fruits. They are one of the biggest manufacturers of fruit gifts. ...Read More
I got some amazing gifts for my family and for myself. I also went on a tour of a winery in Medford and enjoyed a wine and cheese tasting.
I have always been a fan of the outdoors and in Medford I found many ways to enjoy nature. I went hiking, biking and rafting. I also went to the Medford train park which was a free way to kill time and enjoy all that Medford had to offer.
I had the chance to do a lot of sight seeing and bird watching while enjoying my fresh fruit.
I ate a few mom and pop restraunts throughout my tour of Medford and enjoyed every bit of food they had to offer as well as their well prepared fresh fruits and vegetables. I stayed at a bed and breakfast on the edge of town that offered an at home feel.
