I lived in Easton for 3 years. Its a small town with few activities. I don't recommend to stay in downtown area because of higher crime rate. West of the city is very nice neighborhood.

To the west, Bethlehem and Allentown are growing cities. Easy to commute through US 22, US 33. I-78 is not far from US-22. Quite accessible to New York City and Philadelphia. That's why real estate is still strong in this region.

Food-wise, Blue Grillhouse, Marinelli's Pizza shops are OK. Not strikingly good but edible. Shopping centers are not crowded, very nice. Wal-mart, Best Buy, Kohl. Every shop you imagine except Costco. Sam's club is close by.

Nice little town to retire, quite and peaceful. But do not expect changes and vibrant community. Saturday farmers market and Beer Pub are all you have.
