The Fox River was one of my first interests when I came across Batavia. I work remotely and need to live for more than a few months on some of my projects, and living in Batavia, IL fit my needs almost perfectly.
I wanted to have a home near the Fox River--preferably near the Fabyan Forest Preserve, but while searching through vacation homes and foreclosures, most of my options were on the other side of the river.
Not at all a bad option! It was comfortable and calm, in fact. The best areas in Batavia, IL are near Settler's Hill, around the Braeburn marsh County Forest Preserve, and Memorial field.
Braeburn is especially nice because of the restaurants. There's a great grill bistro and a sushi restaurant, along with an IMAX theater in the area that can make any weekend or evening a perfect way to unwind.
My only complaint is that the trains are a bit noisy. Noise reduction helps, and I've dealt with a lot worse in the Navy, but it's something to keep in mind.
