Not only is Wes ...Read More t Torrance close to all the action and excitement of Los Angeles, but it also has a lot of appeal on its own. Cities that border Torrance include Lomita, Carson, Gardena and Redondo Beach. Torrance is part of Los Angeles' South Bay. West Torrance is a hub for culture. Torrance is home to a rich Japanese community, after all. If you want easy access to Japanese supermarkets, authentic Japanese eateries and even Japanese bookshops, West Torrance makes for a satisfying and interesting neighborhood.

West Torrance is a family-friendly area. It's close to many respected schools, notably West High School, South High School and Torrance High School. It's also relatively close to Everest College, West Camino College, National University and the Torrance Campus of the University of Redlands. Importantly, the neighborhood is extremely safe. When I lived in West Torrance, I always felt comfortable walking down the street. The people in West Torrance are generally warm and inviting people.

If you adore eating out, West Torrance is a great place to be. Not only is the neighborhood close to many quality Japanese dining establishments, but it's close to a diverse range of other types of eateries. I enjoy all the food Torrance has to offer, from Italian and Hawaiian to Indian and classic All-American. Whether you want to eat an old-fashioned American hamburger or a plate of tandoori chicken wings, Torrance can make it happen for you. Shopping is another big benefit of life in West Torrance. The Del Amo Fashion Center is located on Carson Street in Torrance. This mall has the distinction of being the biggest shopping center in all of the South Bay. With more than 200 stores, this mall is ideal for a day of shopping, eating and socializing. While West Torrance is excellent for raising a family, shopping, dining and enjoying culture, it's not the best spot for people who enjoy nightlife. Torrance has its share of bars and nightclubs, but they generally pale in comparison to many of those available in other parts of Los Angeles County. Many people enjoy Southland Bar in Torrance for a laid-back night out, however. Read Less
