Don't get me wrong. I love this town. The people were always nice to me and whenever an event came, I was having fun. However, there's little opportunity in the town itself. So many commute to the city for a well paying job. I plan to move to a big city out west after school ...Read More

Do not relocate to the pocono mountains, Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg, Bartonsville, or Tannersville. The entire Pocono Area is what I would call unsuitable for habitation. Its a common wealth state, and the state raises it's money from the weak, and under privileged. Example: T ...Read More
here is a bar on almost every corner, homeless families living under the bridge, and in the woods off of the main highway. The county offers almost no support services other than when then cleaned out the bridge by using a police task force that put the adults in jail, and children in foster care. There is a new hospital, however the cost of living in the area has almost tripled. The homes are very old, with no new renovations or new construction except for more bars, and drive through businesses. The one attraction for families is the one movie theater in a one level mall, if you wish to call Stroud Mall a mall at all. The mall is always over run with unruly teens on the weekends, and if you walk around you will see several stores have gone out of business and are empty. The police force are not use to protect and serve, their purpose is to collect revenue and fill the local privately owned jail. East Stroudsburg University is the college, if you remain on campus you will be protected because the University has it's own police force that does very well in protecting it's students. The University is building more dorms, more activities and offer a wide variety of undergrad and graduate degree programs. if your planning to attend the University, my advise study on campus, live on campus, and work on campus. Do not venture out into the surrounding areas.
