Surprising Silverdale 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) Silverdale always surprises me, even though I lived there for a couple of years. It's a tiny town and isn't technically a town at all; it has never been incorporated. Most small towns on the Kitsap peninsula are either centered around a Navy Base, or they cater to the hiking-and- ...Read More fishing tourist set, but Silverdale is a different kettle of fish.

It's centered almost entirely around shopping. Kitsap Mall is there, and people come from all over the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas to shop. But Silverdale isn't just all chain mall stores and Costco and Target; it has fabulous local vendors as well. There are some nice clubs and pubs, really great restaurants (Puget Sound seafood!), and a truly excellent day spa or two.

But it is not all for the grownups, either; Silverdale is part of the Central Kitsap School District, which has a considerably higher graduation rate than the average in Washington State. Add the parks and events in nearby cities, and Silverdale is a winner. Read Less
