Located in a stunning prairie setting and home to an astonishing 100,000 lakes, Saskatoon is a nature lover’s paradise. Many lakes offer opportunities for fishing, boating and most residents have a few favourites picked out that they keep returning to for the summer. In the winter months, Saskatoon’s stunning outdoors are no less exciting, with great spots for skiing, snowboarding and ice fishing. However, as the winters can be quite long and cold, you can also keep busy indoors at the recreational centre with it’s many sports facilities, or opt for one of Saskatoon’s many cosy bar or restaurants with a warm atmosphere.

Any Saskatoon local will tell you the city is a down to earth prairie cities and its lively community of residents enjoys nothing more than a good sports bar with a low-key, casual atmosphere to just hang out with friends. Many sports bar offer pool tables, darts and foosball, which make them popular with both the younger crowd and older residents. These bars are especially popular on Thursdays, when many places offer deals like two-for-ones, or when the Saskatoon Blades, the city’s favorite hockey team have a game on. Most bars are located downtown, on Broadway Avenue or 33rd Street. The Broadway shopping district also has many fine dining spots where you can try local cuisine and buy locally sourced products. Popular residential neighbourhoods include Mayfair, located amidst shops and bars, as well as Sutherland and Riversdale, the historic neighbourhoods popular for their gated communities and characteristic architecture.
