I am a lifetime Santa Clara County resident being born in Santa Clara and a resident of Willow Glen a tree-lined neighborhood in San Jose, Santa Clara County, California. This neighborhood has diverse architecture dating back to the 1870's through the current day. Like a small to ...Read More
wn, with its own main street, Lincoln Avenue, Willow Glen is well known for with tree-lined streets distinctive charming and unique Victorian and Spanish style homes, many of them built from the 1870's to the 1930's.
The neighborhood has the classic front porches from years gone by where their owners and family sit on a warm summer evening greeting those who are strolling down the sidewalks with a friendly "hello". The historic downtown on between Minnesota Avenue and Willow Street offers many family oriented restaurants from breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and "just desert". Tastefully present are sidewalk safes where one can enjoy a pleasant meal under the famous tree-lined streets be the meal Thai, Mexican, Italian, East-Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Greek, or "good old American cuisine" in addition to fine dining. Also featured are with ice cream parlors, frozen yogurt shops, boutiques, yoga hair salons, and much more.
Downtown Willow Glen has pretty much everything I, my spouse and family need. The restaurants range from reasonable to expensive. Downtown Willow Glen a perfect place for a weekend brunch with friends and family, morning coffee, or drinks after work. The entire neighborhood including the business section is very family friendly. willow Glen as a whole is bike friendly, dog friendly, and most importantly family friendly.
There are many clothing stores, bed and bath shops, where many of these establishments are locally owned and operated. Willow Glen is home to two of the Silicon Valley area's only remaining independent bookstores.
Downtown Willow Glen makes me feel as though I have walked back like in time to the 1950's. Every day I anticipate that I will run into Wally, Lumpy and "The Beaver". I love walking around checking out the shops and restaurants.
Willow Glen's residents are laid back and content with plenty of smiles, waves and heart felt "hellos". Dog friendly, family friendly, and bike friendly.
The 19th Annual "Dancin' on the Avenue" is coming up in June 2014 on Lincoln Avenue between Minnesota and Willow. The Community Stage will present performances from local dance groups. The children's area will have a petting zoo, "fun area", face-painting, games and crafts. Many of Willow Glen's restaurants will be enticing patrons with wonderful culinary fare.
The Willow Glen neighborhood in San Jose, California a diverse community with a quiet, pleasant and very livable Silicon Valley attributes close to major freeways and San Jose International Airport.
