I grew up in the San Francisco area and wanted to raise my own family in this part of the state. When I got married my wife wanted to move to Southern California though. I guess I was a little disappointed and so I did everything I could to convince her to stay in this area. She ...Read More
was pretty resistant at first but after a while she realized how much the San Francisco area has to offer. The ocean, mountains and a diverse culture. She was pretty impressed, but the bottom line was that her parents decided to move to San Jose.
We finally settled on an East San Jose neighborhood. When my wife found out how great the schools were, she figured it would be a good chance for the kids to get a good education and make me happy all at the same time. We found an excellent church and were told that almost every denomination was represented in San Jose. In the past, this part of San Jose had a poor reputation, but things are changing and for the good.
Since I don't like the heat, I appreciate being able to enjoy a cool breeze every evening. It comes up from the west around three in the afternoon and is very refreshing after a long day at work. I should tell you that I was able to get a great job and the pay was excellent. I work in the software industry and this is often called the silicon valley, so it was the perfect place for me.
Houses are fairly expensive, but we were able to get a condo with a pool and club house. It is very nice and the homeowners dues are really reasonable. The kids love living in a planned community and since we like to ski in the winter, I am glad that we don't have much yard work. The mountain is easy to get today and we try to make several day trips every winter.
This is a population of very diverse people. Since we are open and accepting, we fit right in. My in-laws are from Mexico and find this part of the county a great place to find friends and be accepted.
Anyone who wants to live in a great place and have everything they need at their finger tips should consider East San Jose.
