I lived in Redmond Washington for 10 years during the 1990s. I loved the small town ambiance of the area. It's located just a mere short distance from famous Seattle Washington so there is plenty to do nearby for all ages. My family enjoyed visiting the zoo in Seattle and then co ...Read More
ming home to one of our many parks and just spending time together.
One of the best parts about living in Redmond is that it is home to both Microsoft and to Nintendo. There is virtually no other area in the nation with so much high tech savvy as Redmond, Washington. Not only do famous people live in and around Redmond, but I was privileged enough to call it home myself. As a computer geek my dreams were all realized working here. Rubbing elbows with the wealthy was a very unique experience and I am pleased to tell you that they were all very humble and kind people.
When we retired I enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking. The temperatures didn't get too cold in the winter. We rarely had snow and when we did it didn't stay long. I was raised in snow country so this did take me a bit of getting used to, but I really didn't miss shoveling it to get out of the driveway. The comfortable climate also meant my arthritis didn't hurt much, but if it had, I knew that there were plenty of great medical facilities available for myself and my family's needs.
I loved the variety of restaurants and movie theaters that it had to offer and enjoyed a nice dinner and a movie at least twice per month. There is a very low unemployment rate in Redmond, Washington and most of the kids go on to college and get a masters degree. With so much technology there is plenty to do in and around town. Prices are very reasonable and for those who commute to Seattle, it's only a short drive.
