A Pearl of a City 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 14, 2015) I have lived in Pearl City for 10 years. It is a big town with a small town feel. Pearl City reaches all the way from the ocean at Pearl Harbor up to the gorgeous Ko'olau Mountain Range. Pearlridge Shopping Center boasts great shops like Macy's and Crazy Shirts and seasonal event ...Read More s like the annual Butterfly Exhibit and the weekly Pearlridge Farmers' Market. Locals and tourists alike flock to Pearl City's restaurants like Buzz's Steak House, Gyotaku, and Pono Place. The USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor is one of the most historically significant places in the United States and a cherished landmark of Pearl City.

From preschool through higher education, Pearl City has some of the best schools in the area. Leeward Community College is a wonderfully convenient and highly regarded extension of the University of Hawaii. Pearl City's beautiful gardens, shops, and campuses give the town its family friendly and close-knit feeling. They also host craft fairs, garden tours, and food festivals throughout the year.

Since Pearl City boasts a family centered atmosphere there is not much of nightlife attractions to speak of. But it certainly is a beautiful and affordable place to raise a family. Although the commute to downtown Honolulu can be a bit daunting, the low housing costs, beautiful scenery, and historic neighborhoods more than make up for a few extra minutes in the car. With tropical temperatures year round, it's no wonder Hawaii is often said to have "the best weather on the planet". Sunny skies and cool trade winds are the norm for Pearl City. Read Less
