I’ve lived in Orcutt for around two years now and it’s a really nice small town. There’s nothing to worry about when kids are playing in the yard. Neighbors look out for one another and the community is very close. The best part is that crime doesn’t exist. I’ve never seen someone get pulled for a typical infraction, let alone something outrageous going down with the cops.
Our neighboring city, Santa Maria, is a bit of a different story however. The closer you get, the more you’ll see buildings age like the times, and the crime scene go up. They have a lot of crime, and after all these years, I’m amazed it hasn’t found it way into Orcutt.
That said, you’re never more than a 10 minute walk to the closet center, which will have shops and stores to satisfy most needs. The town is quiet, so there’s not much to do regarding a nightlife, but I wouldn’t recommend Santa Maria for that. Just a bit sketchy for my tastes.
