Millegeville Is a True Southern Belle! User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) If you love the atmosphere of a traditional city imbued with Southern charm, then Milledgeville may be the perfect location for your new home. I love the beautiful, shady streets of Milledgeville, with their Antebellum homes and enormous oak trees. I also enjoy visiting the numer ...Read More ous museums and historic sites. Located only one and a half hours from both Atlanta, Georgia and Athens, Georgia (home of the University of Georgia), Milledgeville is home to Georgia College and State University and has a campus for Georgia Military College.

Interesting boutique shops and unique restaurants are plentiful, and the Lockerly Arboretum is a fantastic site to visit, with 50 acres of trees, rhododendrons, conifers, camellias and several greenhouses. The Old Governor's Mansion, a wonderful example of Greek Revival architecture and Andalusia Farm, the home of Flannery O'Conner, are also fun to visit. Whenever I want to go swimming, camping or fishing, Lake Sinclair is only 15 minutes away. While there aren't as many large industries available for jobs as in larger cities, there are many employment opportunities in service-related, financial and educational fields.

Whether you are a college student or someone who enjoys a small town with historical roots, you will love living in Milledgeville. Read Less
