Many older parts of Manassas are deteriorating and crime is beginning to seep in from Fairfax County. On the other hand, there is a ton of economic development. The tech park near the GMU extension campus is booming. There is a huge Micron expansion underway. The Prince William County hospital just completed renovations/expansions. New housing developments are popping up all over to support these newer, high-paying jobs.

Old Town Manassas is small but vibrant with good restaurants and lots of family activities. There are some gems to be found but most of the shopping and dining in Manassas is strip malls and national chains.
