I lived in Reseda for eight years while pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. This family-friendly Southern California neighborhood, which is located in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley, offers a small-town feel while still being close enough to all the hustle and bustle of ...Read More
city life. The neighborhood is surrounded by the communities of Northridge, Encino and Tarzana and is also bordered by Lake Balboa. Tree-lined streets, quaint homes and the residents of diverse cultural backgrounds enhance the appeal of Reseda.
When I relocated to Reseda, I was particularly pleased by the number of public parks and other types of green spaces. In addition to taking a relaxing walk around Lake Balboa, I could also spend a day partaking in fun activities at Reseda Park.
If you enjoy hot weather, you will definitely like living in Reseda. However, temperatures during the summer months can surpass 100 degrees Fahrenheit, which can often be stifling and can even make nighttime conditions not so pleasant. Wildfire danger can also be a concern, but most of the fires during the dry season occur in some of the nearby rural areas. You will have to watch out for flood conditions when heavy rainfall occurs during the winter months due to Reseda's deep location in the San Fernando Valley.
Reseda is definitely not a mecca for shopping, fine dining or entertainment, but you can still find all the necessities at stores like Vons and Ralphs. Some of my personal favorite local eateries include Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, In-N-Out Burger and Las Fuentes.
Even though Reseda is located close to the 405 and 101 freeways, it may still take you a while to travel around by car due to massive traffic backups. Even traveling along major streets like Sherman Way and Vanowen Street can be especially trying during rush hour.
Living in Reseda provided many wonderful experiences during my time in the community. Even though it is not the most exciting neighborhood, you will likely find a sense of comfort while making your home here.
