Jefferson, Louisiana: On the Banks of the Mississippi 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) Located right on the Mississippi River, I love living in Jefferson, Louisiana. The area itself is very basic. The neighbors here though more than make up for the lack of basic needs. Everyone knows everyone and will always offer a helping hand if you are in a tight situation.

The best areas in Jefferson, Louisiana are the views of the mighty Mississippi River. There are some scenic views here in the community. This area really has no stores or restaurants, but this has not bothered me. As a suburb of New Orleans, you can easily find everything that you need within a 15-minute drive. There are shopping and dining opportunities galore within a quick drive.

The crime rate in this immediate area has stayed low, but being close to New Orleans you do hear more about violent crimes in the larger more city like areas that are close by. I do feel safe though walking down the sidewalk here. The local school system is also decent. I have only heard good things about it. Read Less
