Escondido, CA - Hidden Natural Beauty 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 30, 2010) Ever since the first time I visited California, I had a good impression and after visiting the wonderful city of Escondido I can still say the same! Escondido is a beautiful city which blends modern design with the elegant natural surroundings to create an overall pleasant experi ...Read More ence.

I like nature just as much as the next guy but when I visited Escondido I was taken by the wonderful natural surroundings. Escondido is situated about 18 miles from the waterfront and lies in a valley of beautiful avocado and citrus groves. Naturally my favorite part of my stay was a tour through a gorgeous Citrus grove located just off the side of a mountain valley in Escondido. It was stunning to see nature at its best and Escondido is a brilliant example of a city that embraces its surroundings rather than change them!

The community is gorgeous and the city area is lined with beautiful natural modern design, I was particularly impressed by the use of fountains throughout the cityscape. There is an incredible amount of restaurants in Escondido ranging from authentic French cuisine through classic American style; don't forget the seafood too! Read Less

      vs

      Escondido, CA

Escondido is a San Diego suburb that has grown into a city of over 150,000 residents thanks to the high quality of life that it offers those who rent or buy a home in the area. It is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County, and it is blessed with natural scenery that is truly unique. The city is smaller than Oceanside to the west, but larger than Carlsbad. Escondido has experienced steady growth in the last decade. This growth has been supported by new construction of housing that is more affordable than areas along the county's coast.

Palomar Medical Center provides medical services to the city's 150,000 residents as well as employment opportunities for doctors, nurses, and medical administrative staff. The city also has a large number of car dealers that offer great deals on the hottest cars on the market and employment for the men and women who sell and service vehicles. The public school system rounds out the list of top employers in the area.

Traffic in Escondido is not as bad as it is in other areas of the county. Interstate 15 is the main freeway that is accessible from Escondido. The freeway has a handful of exits in the city that make it easy to get to the main attractions in the city and other neighboring communities. The Escondido Transit Center is the main hub for all bus and shuttle service in the city. There are a number of fixed routes that are operated on a regular basis for those who do not want to get behind the wheel and drive seven days of the week. Cycling is also a popular mode of transportation in Escondido since there are a handful of bike paths that separate cyclists from motorists.

South Boulevard, Eureka, and Vineyard are a few of the neighborhoods that are worth checking out as you are starting your homework to rent or buy a home. Each of these areas are known for the safety and quiet that they are able to provide to residents. Escondido has a reputation for quality education, and Bernardo Elementary, Del Lago Academy, and Escondido Charter are some of the best public and private schools in the area.

The Mount Woodson Trail offers an escape from the city into nature along a stunning network of trails that take you high into the mountains that tower over the city. Queen Califa's Magical Circus is a place that is attractive to children and their parents. It is home to a number of unique statues that are built from a child's perspective and way of thinking. The San Diego County Children's Discovery Museum is another place that caters to young visitors.
