Elmira is scummy-beware User Rating 0.5 rating By Jellybean Fugazi ( May 29, 2017) Elmira, NY used to be a good place to live. Currently, it is full of scummy people and I would not recommend it to anyone. Most residents are drunks or drug addicts. The schools are awful. No shopping at all unless you go to Horseheads. If you go out in the evening you have to again, worry about drunk drivers, as well as stabbings and shootings. Also, most residents are very racist and ignorant. Read Less
