This town is quiet, which isn't a bad thing. Issue with this place is that it has no opportunity for a career. After going through the education system here, this town does not prepare its students for college. If you are looking for a career here, look elsewhere. This town's mai ...Read More
n source of revenue is tourism. Min wage jobs are the only jobs available. Govt jobs and/or hospital jobs are the only real respectable jobs available but good luck getting one, because the job market for those sectors are over-saturated. The politics of the town are pretty corrupt, public transportation is a joke, and this is one of the least progressive parts of the state. Depression is rife through this community, mostly because besides shop with money you probably do not have, here isn't much to do. Not to mention this town had tried to lure a lot of it's current population after 9/11 with promises that they would improve public transit. 18 years later, it hasn't happened. Avoid this area at all costs if you work and expect to have a social life.

East Stroudsburg is a great area to settle down and raise a family. Our neighbors are very friendly and caring and more than willing to look out for each other. We have lived here for more than 2 years after moving from New Jersey and it’s like night and day. There are tons of ...Read More
parks and recreation areas to take the family on weekends and off days.
Shopping malls and outlets are everywhere and though the traffic on the major freeways can be a headache, we’ve learned to take the back roads and this is a much less congested option to traveling in the area. I commute daily from Stroudsburg into NYC & New Jersey for work, which can be stressful; but it’s nice to come back home to the comfort and slower-pace of life once you are back in Stroudsburg. Our home is also near a river and it’s so peaceful and calming to just take the whole family there for an evening or weekend walk or bike ride. East Stroudsburg is also close enough to the Jersey Shore so that in the summers we also make this a great family getaway.
The area also has great schools and though some do complain about the taxes--these necessities are something I am more than willing to pay for so that my kids to have access to the great schools and safe neighborhoods of Stroudsburg. You can’t place a price tag on peace of mind and I feel while East Stroudsburg isn’t perfect by any means (and really, what city is?)---for the most part, it’s a great, safe, and friendly community in which you can comfortably raise a family. It’s also close enough to larger metro areas, like NYC, New Jersey and Philly, so you can easily get your big city fill and then return here to a more peaceful, quiet existence.
