I've spent the past 2 years living in Dixon, and it has been so-so. I've endured some rough times, but for the most part I can't complain too much. I relocated to Dixon because it was close enough to Sacramento, and I took a job there. The commute was easy, and I found people to carpool with, so it wasn't so bad.
If I had to share my favorite things about living in Dixon, it would probably be the fact that I am fairly close to the Nut Tree Outlets in Vacaville. It is a great place to go shopping, and you can easily spend an entire day there without realizing it. Likewise, you might not have too many good restaurants in Dixon, but a trip to Sacramento to find some good food, is well worth it on the weekend.
Overall, you get what you pay for. Home prices are kind of steep, but you know you'll be safe from most crime. Likewise the weather is great. If you're working in or around Sacramento, give Dixon a try, you just might like it.
