The City in the Middle User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 17, 2015) Cathedral City, CA is the city in the middle of it all of Palm Springs, CA; Rancho Mirage, CA; and Palm Desert, CA. When I lived in Cathedral City, CA, I worked, ate, shopped in either Palm Springs, CA or Palm Desert, CA. There are wonderful attractions to see, such as the Living Desert, which is the deserts version of a zoo; Tahquitz Canyon for hiking, or the San Jacinto Tramway out of Palm Springs, CA. There is a Boomers which has miniature golf, go carts and more. If one is into golfing, there is pretty much a golf course on every corner throughout the desert. My families favorite restaurant was Margaritas, located in Palm Springs, CA, it has amazing Mexican Food, Sushi, and the best Sunday Brunch Ever.

Palm Springs, CA and Palm Desert, CA are the higher end communities within the desert, so the better shopping and restaurants are located there, but if you want to live in a cheaper area, Cathedral City, CA is the area, especially with what you have around you. There are a few things that I did not enjoy about living in the desert. The cost of living, cost of gas, food, etc. is a lot more than other states, and the temperatures of 120 degrees for more than a few months out of the year, was a little much. Though during winter time, when it is 75 degrees out, it can be a beautiful area to live in. Read Less
