This used to be a nice place 30 years ago. Now, I see litter everywhere, they couldn't keep a mall open because of all the shoplifting (I used to work at Brookdale.) There used to be stores like St. Paul Book + Stationery, they've all been replaced by dingy nail salons and fast food places. The bus transit station is filthy and full of loud-mouthed, rude kids, many of whom ask you for money and try to intimidate you when you say no. It's just gross and there is no dignity to this place any more. There are a few niches of good places-- the Brookdale library is nice (for now.) There are a handful of nice stores like TJ MAXX. There is a nice bike and walking trail system. There are some good people here, even some of the youth are polite and friendly. But overall it's run-down and sad, with folks who have no idea how to be good neighbors.
