While Bloomsburg has its' good points, the downtown has eroded due to the overwhelming negative influence of the University. College housing shortages have led to rundown residential areas near campus. Admission standards are low, so we get what we get. A good selection of res ...Read More
taurants, but crime continues to climb and shows no signs of abating. Overdose rates are alarming. I no longer live within town limits. The streets are a nightmare in winter in town if you brave any street but Main, Market, or East. Recent action on the never ending in-town flooding has resulted in the destruction of the beauty of one of the best parts of Bloomsburg, the town park. School ratings are so-so. Gasoline prices historically are, for some reason higher in Bloomsburg than surrounding towns and always above national averages. Weather in Central PA is typical of most of PA, humid, never ending winters and short summers. I'm trying to find something good to say about Bloomsburg in our current day, and here's what I came up with: Bloomsburg is the best town in Columbia County to live in.

ovie theater that we frequent often. There is a town pool and a park that my children love to go to. There are many small, family owned, shops and businesses. The art that is sold in some of the little shops is just amazing. The town holds a lot of cultural events. I always enjoy taking my family to the events held in town.
Outdoor activities are really big here. Lots of people like to go hiking, biking, and kayaking. In the summer, the town park has free concerts. I love taking my family to them. We pack a picnic, it is so much fun! Bloomsburg has a great small town feel.
