Nice, Quiet Town to Raise a Family! User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 28, 2021) Bartllesville is a nice example of a small to medium size town that benifits from the presence of a large multinational company that has its headquarters located here. Phillips Petroleum provides not only many good paying jobs, but adds to a tax base that makes for a highly rated ...Read More school system. Bartlesville high school, in particular, is not only highly academically rated, but a beautiful piece of art deco architecture with all the latest updated facilities - it is a gem!

Interesting achitecture is one of reasons my wife and I decided to retire here! Bartlesville has at least 5 nice neighborhoods - each unique, quiet, and well-kept. There are some magnificent old mansions downtown, a surprising number of mid-century modern homes; as well as some very nice, executive-style homes.

The downtown has a massive art deco performing arts center with symphony, concerts, local productions, and regional broadway shows, children's theater. We're impressed at how organized their annual winter carnival/Christmas event is - complete with mini ice rink, Santa, and plenty to do for the kiddos! Fun fact: Bartllesville is also home to Frank LLoyd Wright's only skyscraper!

The dining options are also above average for the size of the town. The dowtown area has some nice, non-franchise eateries and the secondary highway that runs through the east end of town holds several familiar family-stye restaurants as well as the usual fast food places. There is a medium-sized hospital and plenty of smaller medical and dental facilities. Bartlesville does not have a Target, but it's 40 minutes to Owasso where there's a Target and more eating places, 1 hour to the Woodland Hills mall, Cheesecake Factory and many more eating places in Broken Arrow.

Bartlesville has two nice outdoor pools in the Summertime, a well-kept, private golf course with tennis courts and another pool and an above-average, public course. The neatest thing about Bartlesville is it has an extensive, paved walking/biking path system through the woods that I believe is 12 miles long! There is another mile long paved path around a pond with a swimming area for dogs with Cooper fenced-in dog park adjacent to it. Also, a new skate park with ramps just opened in 2020!

Bartlesville has a mild, 4-season climate that allows for beautiful flowers in the Summertime and mostly mild winters with very little snow (sometimes ice.) We have red cardinals year-round, geese, deer, turtles, frogs, & fox, & fireflies!

One drawback is that this isn't a walking city. Oh, and the tornados that we haven't yet experienced (knock on wood!)

All-in-all, we're very happy living in Bartlesville. It is a good mix of people! Read Less
Bartlesville: A Quiet Oklahoma City User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 14, 2018) I lived in Bartlesville for a couple years before moving out of state. Overall, it's a nice city to live in but it felt limited in a couple of ways. The closest major city is Tulsa, which is maybe an hour away. You'll probably be able to find a decent job in Bartlesville, but the ...Read More prospects may not be as promising as they'd be if you were closer to another big city.

On the other hand, real estate in Bartlesville is reasonable and you won't have to break your bank account to purchase a home. The crime is also a little lower than the state average, and the public schools seem to be decent as well. If you enjoy an active lifestyle, there's a good number of gyms to choose from. One of the best areas in the city is Johnstone Park. It's a good place to enjoy a sunny weekend and maybe even have a picnic. Read Less
