Auburn: An Inexpensive Southern Maine City User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) Auburn is a small city in Maine, far enough away from any other big cities to make it feel like you're in the country, but with enough amenities to keep you active and happy. On the other hand, you will want to line up a job before moving here since there aren't many great jobs available.

There are a lot of public parks in Auburn and they are well maintained. Taylor Pond is another nice spot and is probably the best area in Auburn. If you're into winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding, you're in luck. The winters can leave you with a lot of snow and there are a lot of ski resorts within driving distance that you can visit. The summers are typically mild, and it will be a little more comfortable than what you'd experience in southern New England. Read Less
