I wouldn't recommend User Rating 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 13, 2025) Whittier has gone down a lot. It used to be a very nice and friendly city but now it's become the opposite. A lot of people down on the luck as well as drug abusers and criminals. It turns into scary town. .
It's sad to see and even worse to experience.
I don't recommend movin

Too many and horrible crime User Rating 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 22, 2024) Whittier is NOT the place to move to. Too many illegals, homeless and drug addicts. Our police department is busy with responding to a lot of crime. Gangs are here and drugs are plenty. Children can be at risk also from possible human trafficking. Rents are high, groceries are hi ...Read More gh, gasoline is going up and utilities in cost is ridiculous. I repeat DO NOT move here, too many at risk locations and people.. Read Less
Whittier, California - An Historic Suburbia User Rating 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 23, 2010) Home to Whittier College and once-home to President Richard Nixon, Whittier, California, is a run-of-the-mill southern California suburb with some colorful. I visited there on business a number of times, and there are notable landmarks (but nothing too famous), average restaurant ...Read More s (some good, some bad), and average entertainment (driving into Los Angeles is a better bet). If you're looking for something historical, the Pio Pico house is not to be missed - Pio Pico was the last Mexican governor of California - and the house and grounds are quite lovely. A number of movies have also been filmed in the city of Whittier, and you might recognize the Whittier High School from the Back to the Future series.

You'll definitely need a car to get around the city, but aside from historic places and the college, your next best activity in Whittier is probably to get some food. The restaurants near Whittier College are best, particularly the pizza joints. However, Whittier is only 12 miles southeast of Los Angeles, so it is easy to get to Dodgers games, Disneyland, Hollywood restaurants, and other famous LA activities. Read Less
