Westland not Wasteland! 3 rating By Kusch ( Feb 28, 2011) Some people drive thru a city too fast and then write a review. Westland does have a nightlife, independent restaurants and good shopping. Some of the lively bars in Westland are, Malarkey's, Chatters, Stryker's, Papa Joe's etc.. Some of the independent restaurants are Little Mex ...Read More ico, Carvers, Beaver Creek, Amantea's, Angelo's etc.. As for shopping we do have a mall, Westland Mall and it has four anchors, Macy's. Kohl's, J.C. Penny's and Sears. It also has multiple shops. In fact the city of Westland was named after Westland Mall. Westland was called Nankin Township and after the mall came in the city changed it's name. Read Less

Westland, MI - Just west of where? 3 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 07, 2010) Westland, MI was just a small (unplanned) stop along a trip of mine through Michigan and I am glad it was nothing more. Westland advertises as being an "All American City" and I have no problem with that but honestly, America is not as boring as Westland!

There is really nothing in Westland, I ended up eating at a national chain since there are no acceptable local restaurants which is really unfortunate; luckily there are plenty of national chains available to eat at! Nightlife in Westland did not seem to exist on a Saturday night when we passed thru and I only saw bars inside the national chains and not any local places. It should be noted they were all fairly empty.

Shopping in Westland was also a miss since there was no mall, no real local shops and aside from a national department store which can be found in every city; there was nowhere to shop! The only neat thing I noticed was that they have their own Skatepark. There isn't a whole lot to Westland for visitors nor residents. Read Less
