A 2022 Review User Rating 4 rating By Jacob ( May 05, 2022) It has been a while since the last review, and that one was clearly some bigoted person. The diversity is a great thing. It has caused more ethnic restaurants to open up, and bring a little more culture to the area. As with most of Utah, the nightlife isn't the best, even downtow ...Read More n SLC compared to other major metros is lacking. I know the city council is working on bringing more entertainment to West Jordan, as I emailed them about it recently. My neighbors are very nice, in general everyone around here is nice. That being said, there is a lot of property crime (theft) in this town. I'm unsure if that's dying down as higher cost housing is going in changing the demographic again and pushing out lower income families. Dining experience is okay, there isn't really anywhere unique to go, just a lot of chains and fast food. There are several shopping hubs that have a lot of restaurants, just as I said nothing special. The shopping centers have every need you would require though, and offer a lot of stores to walk around. Attractions wise I gave a high rating, because in the valley you're only 30 minutes from most attractions you want. Can still hit the zoo or aquarium easily, or go hiking in either Oquirrh or Wasatch range (Wasatch more of a drive up canyons obviously), there are a plethora of parks that offer year round use with sledding hills, playgrounds, walking paths, etc. There is a Pins and Ales, and unfortunately not a lot more like that. There is a Top Golf easily accessible in Midvale. But more places like Pinstacks, Main Event, or Freeplay Arcade type places that allow for families to participate (Pins and Ales is 21 and over) would be the next step to me to elevate this place.

Overall, its a really nice suburb that seems to be growing out of its previous negative connotation with the new additions, and seems poised to be a top suburb in the valley in time. I can't give it 5 stars because of the crime and nightlife issues. Schools are also not that great, but I think that's a systemic Utah issue more than city driven. It's just not a priority to parents, therefore the kids. That needs to change. Read Less

West Jordan is a bedroom community of Salt Lake City that has been growing at an impressive rate over the recent past. With over 100,000 residents calling the city home, it has all of the shopping, restaurants, and government services that are needed for a thriving community. Laid out to the west of the Jordan River, the city was originally settled by Mormon Pioneers who established a large mill at Gardner Village.

One of the most appealing aspects of life in West Jordan is the affordable housing that is available in pockets of the city. While home prices have rose in recent year in the city mirroring the rest of the state, there are still bargains to be found in some neighborhoods. West Jordan is home to two major high schools that are located less than 10 miles apart. West Jordan High School is the home of the Jaguars, and it was the city's first and only high school for many years. Copper Hills High School was constructed in the 1990s, and it is home to the Grizzlies.

West Jordan has an impressive public transit network that is operated by the Utah Transit Authority. Trax has several stops at key locations in the city near the high school, the hospital, and Gardner Historic Village. Some of the key roads in West Jordan are 90th South, 78th South, 70th South, Redwood Road, and Bangerter Highway. Traffic in the city is light, although it typically gets thicker during rush hour traffic as people wait to merge onto I-15.

One of the most exciting places to go in West Jordan to relax or enjoy a meal is Jordan Landing. This huge shopping complex is also home to a large movie theater that shows all of the hottest movies on the market. In addition to Jordan Landing, West Jordan is also known for Jordan River Parkway Trail where walkers, bikers, and horse riders can enjoy a tranquil experience in nature.

West Jordan is less than 20 miles from downtown Salt Lake City making it an attractive option for people that work or go to school in the city. Getting to downtown Salt Lake is easy on the Trax or FrontRunner public transit options. More and more people in West Jordan are starting to take advantage of bike to get around town as the city has created several bike paths and roads with lanes dedicated to cyclists.
