I grew up in Weatherby lake. I lived there for 16+ years and then I moved to go to college.
I enjoyed growing up there between the years of 1974 -1994. We had a lake in the back yard and so going swimming was a common summer activity. We had a pontoon boat, which was great. They don't allow boat engines above 10 horse power. Its a pretty small lake.
The cops are strict about people driving the speed limit there. Which honestly, is a good thing because Weatherby lake is a place where its nice to ride your bike or walk along the road. You don't want to have to worry about speeder's running you down.
It's quiet, peaceful and there are fun activities around the 4th of July.
My dad still lives in the same house that I grew up in. I'm not exactly sure, but I think that's about 50 plus years there. The majority of people that do live there have lived there a long time.
There isn't shopping, dining or restaurants inside of Weatherby lake. You have to go to Parkville or the Platte Woods area for that stuff. The shopping and dining is plentiful and there is a wide variety of really nice options.
