Great place for families 5 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 14, 2026) I grew up in Walnut, moved there as a 5 year old in 1975. Back then it was rolling, green hills, and tons of adventure for a kid. I've seen it change over the decades but it still remains a nice place to live. Well-designed with landscaping and roads, it gives a country feel but ...Read More within a modern small town. I walked to and from school for years and the city was pretty walkable, not in the sense that you can hit a lot of places in a small area, but more that things are well-connected and it's safe to walk about. There are many trails that wind through the hills and connect the neighborhoods, great for on foot or horse. It's a small community feel that is highlighted by the annual Walnut Family Festival. Lots of local sports for the kids and schools nearby. Growing up there the best part of it was we all knew each other. It didn't matter what walk of life you came from we all hung out together and to this day are tied by growing up in that small town. It's something I truly appreciate as I'm older and recently met up with a large group of friends I hadn't seen in years. Many of us knew each other since elementary school and though the decades passed we connected as if time hadn't changed anything, largely due to growing up in this town. That's what it brought to us and still keeps that kind of feel. Times have changed now and there is a whole lot more development and modernization throughout the city but it still maintains that small, community feel in a sense. It's a small pocket of life that sets itself apart from its surroundings. I truly appreciate growing up there now that I look back. Read Less

It is quiet, safe, and you are close to all kinds of fun things to do! The Annual Walnut Family Festival, is always a great time, and fun for the whole family.

Living in Waln ...Read More ut, CA also opens up many doors when it comes to someone looking for employment. It has a very high employment rate, and the average median income is around 97,000. Nothing better than a stable job, in a beautiful city.

One of my families favorite things about living in Walnut, CA is the amazing school systems. There are numerous schools, all with great ratings, and our kids have done great so far. The summer weather can be a bit hot, but the best part about that, is that you are not too far from the beach! Also if you're looking for fun nightlife, or great shopping, you are only about 45 minutes from Los Angeles! Read Less
