Walker, MI: Conveniently located next to Grand Rapids. User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) The city of Walker, Michigan is a suburb of the Grand Rapids area. The city itself blends into Grand Rapids well so you often don't feel like you're in a different city. There are plenty of housing options with varying prices and the shopping and dining is decent, though most of ...Read More your dining experience in Walker will be at franchises. Nightlife is virtually nonexistent in Walker, so it'll be a good idea if you're looking for good night life to take an Uber or Lyft into Grand Rapids for an excellent nightlife experience.

Walker public schools are very good and the community itself is safe and well-policed. The southern side of Walker may be a different story as the community on the southern side gets to be a bit more sketchy as it meshes into the West side of Grand Rapids, but that is a very small portion of Walker. The rest of the city of quite decent and well worth it when it comes to cost-effective alternatives to living downtown in Grand Rapids. Overall, I'd say Walker is a great place for families and singles alike, and a great starting point for anyone looking to move up. Read Less
