NJ is over rated User Rating 0.5 rating By Vineland Resident ( Oct 07, 2014) I have lived 32 of my 40 years in Vineland and it has gone down hill. Trying to find a place that is affordable to live and a decent paying job to support my 2 children plus have a good education is near impossible. The high school does not have enough money to supply our childr ...Read More en with school books to bring home so all 'homework' is completed in school during class. The most you can make as an hourly wage is about $10 unless you have a degree, or become a corrections officer, fire fighter or police officer, than of course you can make more. I am an EMT/MA. The most I will make here in Cumberland County is $10-11/hr. Taxes on homes were just reassessed creating a huge commotion around here. We have lost values on our homes, taxes have gone up......go figure. Southern NJ is not a place where most WANT to live....it is a place where you want to LEAVE. Vineland, PA - Close to Everything But Far Enough Away User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 30, 2012) People live in Vineland, PA not for its attractions, although there are a few. Nor do they live in Vineland for the shopping, even though, thanks to being a state entitlement zone, sales tax rates are 3%. They don't even live in Vineland for the community, which is a diverse mix ...Read More living among 69 square miles of land.

They move to Vineland for both convenience and solitude. At the junction of three state highways, and mere minutes from the New Jersey Turnpike, those who live in the city have direct access to the best culture and recreation the tri-state area has to offer. Head up Route 55 and you cross the Delaware into Philadelphia. Drive east on Landis Avenue and you're on the way to Atlantic City. Take Route 47 south and the Jersey Shore resorts of Wildwood and Cape May are only 90 minutes away.

This doesn't mean Vineland is a sleepy bedroom community in one of the most southern counties in New Jersey. Recent redevelopment and construction have revitalized the downtown area and put a fresh spotlight on its fine restaurants, bakeries and salons. Albert Giampietro Memorial Park, right in the middle of the city, provides its residents with a quiet respite for kayaking, walking or just watching the leaves turn in the fall. If this weren't enough, Vineland is host to the Delsea Drive-In, the state's only drive-in movie theater. With all of this, plus convenience to everything else, why wouldn't Vineland prime place to live. Read Less
