ue to the Nut Tree, a complex which expanded to include multiple restaurants and a kitschy shop. Unfortunately, the Nut Tree went bankrupt and has been redeveloped as a large chain retail complex, although it retained the historical railroad ride. Now, the city's primary tourist draws are the factory tours located in adjacent Fairfield. These tours of either a Budweiser Brewery or of the Jelly Belly factory are both free and extremely entertaining. Both also offer opportunities to taste the respective products manufactured from the factories in Vacaville.
Vacaville is less than one hour from San Francisco, Sacramento, Napa and the Delta communities. Because of this compelling location, it is a great place to use as a base. Life there is small town suburban, though, and is marked by high levels of traffic on I-80.
