I have moved to Tinley, IL from New York City seven years ago. It was a true cultural shock for me when I came to this quaint little town. Growing up in New York was challenging, to say the least. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was how clean Tinley was. I immediately ...Read More
fell in love and it has been this way since.
This town is very family oriented and focused on providing safe environment for all residents. With the population of about 55,000, it is small enough to retain the small town feeling. It is large enough to attract many visitors and keep the local inhabitants occupied with various local events such as Benches On The Avenue art displays held annually in the downtown area. This is truly a unique event and our town is visited regularly by many art enthusiasts. The close proximity of Tinley to Chicago provides easy access to wide varieties of entertainment and many of the residents choose to commute daily to work.
The average cost of a home in Tinley falls between $250,000 and $300,000. For that price, you will able to find a large house or townhouse. The taxes are low in comparison to other parts of the country, and most residents in this town own homes instead of renting or leasing. The average price of renting a dwelling is $900. The median age is 40 and females are accounted for 60 percent of the population. This statistic creates a great opportunity for women-oriented activities such as family-focused projects and plenty of jobs. The low cost of living, at a superb location, draws young couple, who wish to start a family of their own, without the expense required when making that decision.
I am proud to say, my town of Tinley is aggressively implementing the principals of healthy living. The town's officials are sponsoring the local recycling program and the promotion of green concepts within the community. From June through September, local farmers are able to sell their products and show their support for the town's mission.
Our village is growing at a steady pace and all new residents are always welcome.
