Another scary coal region town. User Rating 1 rating By dryback ( May 26, 2015) Tamaqua is another declining coal region town. There is Always plenty of arrests in the local paper that involve drugs and alcohol.
The Downtown had seen better days and there isn't as much as their used to be to and a lot of the town is made up of old real estate and blight loo ...Read More king row homes.
Amenities ranking as a B plus is baffling as there is not a mall near here and all the ones within 25miles are falling apart. The resturants and bars are pretty average here. nothing great. The baseball fields and youth fields are not the best here as well. I would rank Tamaqua probably a 25 at least its closer to the Poconos and Allentown. Read Less
