However, because of its importance to the region, there are plentiful job opportunities. The Northeastern Junior College offers many options for educators looking for work, while Sykes Enterprises boasts career opportunities for those in the technology industry.

The best area in Sterling is the historic Overhead Trail Museum, replicating an old fort complete with the chance to pan for gold. Outdoor enthusiasts will delight in the North Sterling State Park with its miles of biking and hiking trails and the idyllic Cottonwood Cove Swim Beach.
