State College, PA City Review User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 18, 2015) I have lived in State College PA for my entire life. I love the small-town feel of the city, and also the proximity to plenty of shopping, restaurants and nightlife. I like driving down the highway and seeing the rows of wildflowers. This picturesque area has so much charm and ap ...Read More peal. There are only about 42,000 people who live here, but to me it seems like the perfect size. You can get down the main drag of town, and there is no congestion. The Pennsylvania State University is here, and that brings in some new blood into the city.

Sports enthusiasts will love the Penn State Nittany Lions football team. There is a real sense of team spirit around these parts and come game day, you want to avoid the stadium area. Beaver Stadium is the second largest in the Western Hemisphere. Game day has a crowd. Those who love the arts will enjoy a performance from the Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra. They have won many awards and listening to them is the perfect way to spend the day.

I love that there are so many farmers nearby. We often visit the Downtown Farmers' Market and get our produce for a fraction of the retail price. Hometown pride is big here, so buying local means allot to us. When I want to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors, I heard over to Mount Nittany. The hiking trails are beautiful here, especially during the falls month's when the leaves have changed.

Most people do their grocery shopping at Wegmans Food Markets or the local Walmart. For hospitals, we have one of the best. Mount Nittany Medical Center is a state of the art facility that caters to their patients. For clothes and housewares, there are several types of shopping malls available. The Creekside Plaza, North Atherton Place and Colonnade at State College are just a few. It's a great place to work, live and play, and I am so proud to call this area home. Read Less
