St. Simons is a beautiful coastal town against the Fancy Bluff Creek, Saint Simons Sound, and the Atlantic. It's just below Sea Island and Little St. Simons Island, and is part of a great tourist area.
Oak trees, pine trees, and Spanish moss are everywhere. Although this is a quiet tourist destination for many people, it used to be a lumber hotspot that supplied timber for military use, with the USS Constitution and a few other ships being made of wood from the area.
While living in St. Simmons you can experience a bit of Geechee culture in the area, but the island's river and sea coastal features are much more prominent. It's not as culturally-active as the Charleston historical centers or other northern sea islands, but you can still have a tour of old cultural centers and get a bit of sweetgrass basket shopping done.
If you're looking for Creek Nation information, this area is also a part of the old Native nation land and still has a few natives who know their way around their history in a non-exploitative, helpful way.
The best areas in St. Simmons are around Kings Terrace near Saint Simmons Sound and the Glynn Haven area with all of its amazing restaurants.
