I moved to Springfield, OR after living on the east coast for ten years. When I got to the west coast, I was a little shocked at the difference in weather, but I have been here for two years now and love it. It does rain a little more than I am used to, but that just means I go shopping in several of the local towns. Camping is one of my favorite things to do in Springfield. There are numerous sites that I have been to that are in the woods. The mountain ranges in the distance when I go to Mt. Hood take my breath away. Try to go in the summer so it is warmer.
When it is too cold to camp, I enjoy going to some of the culinary restaurants. There are a few coffee shops that have book stores in them as well. It is great being able to read a good book while drinking an espresso or cappuccino. If you enjoy wine, then Oregon is the place to go. Several of the wine distilleries offer tours so that you can see how the wine is made. All the history lovers will enjoy touring the museums all across Oregon. There are even some Ghost Towns in Auburn and Bourne.
One of the things that will take getting acclimated to when you go to Springfield is the weather. Be sure to pack plenty of things to do while you are inside your home or office, or plan to spend a day or two looking at the shops.
