The Heart of Downriver: Safe and Cozy 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 14, 2018) Living in Southgate, MI has been a great experience. I have lived here for over twenty years and cannot see myself moving anywhere else. The city is beautiful; not too big and not too small. There are plenty of outdoorsy things to do. Southgate is very close to the Detroit river, ...Read More so any boating and fishing activities are a must while you are here.

The community life is great here. I haven’t had any issues with vandalism or other kinds of crime. People are friendly and really enjoy getting together for community events. This is a perfect place to start up a business; the community is great at supporting local startups.

The best areas in Southgate, MI are definitely the in-line hockey arena, Municipal Golf Course and Heritage Park. Heritage Park offers a ton of activities for friends and family. They have numerous paths for walking and biking, beautiful spots for pictures, volleyball nets, an outdoor hockey rink, soccer and baseball fields, and much more. If you are looking for a nice city that is great for family activities Southgate is where you want to be. Read Less
