I lived in South Hill, Washington for most of my 20s. South Hill is a census-designated area just south of Puyallup, Washington. I was lucky to find a home in my price range that sat on the Puyallup County Fairgrounds. Housing can be expensive in the South Hill area, and there is ...Read More
n't a lot of single family housing available, though there is plenty of apartment living around, and most complexs are fairly new and are really nice.
The neighborhood of South Hill is probably best known for it's shopping mall, which lends to the fast-paced living that the area is known for. Some of Pierce County's best shopping is found in South Hill. People from many nearby cities will do all of their shopping in South Hill. The South Hill Mall has more than 100 stores, and there are many other major retail stores nearby.
South Hill doesn't have an active nightlife, but there are nearby cities that do. Also, other than a few parks, there isn't a lot to do with kids other than the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, which is the largest annual attraction in the entire state of Washington. As I said earlier, the house I lived in was actually located on the fairgrounds, which are located less than a mile from the South Hill Mall.
Meridian Avenue runs the length of South Hill, and also happens to be the most direct route between a few of the area's more populated regions. So many people travel this road getting to and from work that it can take upwards of 45 minutes to get five miles in either direction. The area is almost always congested, and I would definitely recommend any other route whenever possible.
