NYC flight makes Shirley an overnight gentrification! User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Dec 26, 2021) The rating is ridiculous and needs updating. No question this area was a dumping site for all of Suffolk counties problem cases.

...Read More s both on the Atlantic and the Great south bays are amongst the finest in Long Island. The Main shopping areas are on or near Montauk hwy, however Neighborhood road is primed to become that beach y seaside town main street. The "C" grade board ups will turn into the Starbucks and posh y gathering place this new area will need to satisfy our new residents. Home prices are up nearly 100% in two years. With the riots that drove those who "could" leave NY for parts south, The husband and wife teams earning $200-300K working as Cops, firemen ,teachers and professionals who can't leave staid and are making our neighborhood great. We are at the commutable limit for City workers and we are reaping the benefits. Want the Hamptons for what mere mortals can afford look here, Read Less

It can get a little boring here sometimes, especially in the winter, but it's not too bad. If you're looking to live here year-round, keep in mind that the job market isn't as bountiful as it is in bigger cities and you might not have a lot to choose from. It can be expensive to live here too. Besides that, there is a fair amount of attractions here. Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge is right along the water and one of the best areas in Shirley.

There aren't many restaurants or stores here though, so if you want to try a new place to eat then you might need to drive to a neighboring town. Overall though, it's a comfortable little place that is much more fun in the summer. Read Less
