Earlier this year I took a big leap and moved out of my beloved San Francisco to Sausalito. I had always like visiting Sausalito on the weekends but the idea of living in a small town (village) was a bit daunting to me. However, I was tired of the skyrocketing rents in San Franci ...Read More
sco and competing for what I considered sub-standard apartments. I wanted a nice apartment in a nice neighborhood without having to hand over any appendages or most of my income. I saw that Studios and one-bedrooms averaged a few hundred dollars less per month in Sausalito than San Francisco and you were almost guaranteed a nice neighborhood so I took the plunge. All I can say is that I am SO HAPPY that I did. I absolutely love it here!
Sausalito, with its steeply wooded hills and beautiful views of Richardson Bay and San Francisco evoke the feeling of the Italian Riviera. It attracts a lot of tourist and is a cyclists heaven. I have seen more bicycles pass through here than any place I have ever lived or visited. It is a great place to live if you want to stay active as well as cultured.
People in Sausalito are genuinely nice, they speak to you when you walk the streets, they smile at you and there is a strong sense of neighborhood. I have a beautiful view of San Francisco and there are sufficient amenities to keep me from running into the city every five minutes. I also love the ferry commute every day to the city for work. I live in the Hurricane Gulch neighborhood which is very windy and foggy during the summer months but since I love the fog it is great for me. I can see myself hanging out here a good little while.
