I lived in Santa Monica for 5 years and I loved some things about it and hated many things about it. The crime and homeless problem are out of control. It's a beautiful city with many things to do and centered around families: many organizations that cater to families and the sch ...Read More
ools are decent. It's a small congested town and the crime was out of control; mostly gang shootings weekly that claimed many young lives, the shooting that occurred at Santa Monica College and homeless on the beach; most occurred in the Pico neighborhood. It was time for me to move on when the Police started to racial profile. Once the train was built it really became a nightmare. I like to say that Santa Monica is an overpriced ghetto because it is outrageously overpriced for what little you get in return. I'm not kidding rent is $5,000-$10,000.

pirit. The people visiting Santa Monic are eccentric, free spirited, and above all other things, beautiful. There is great shopping, a wonderful beach, and restaurants that Santa Monica has to offer.
The Santa Monica pier is a central point of activity in the city. During the day, it can be an amazing experience to grab a drink or ride on the ferris wheel of the pier. It is situated right on Santa Monica beach. During the night, it becomes a center point of nightlife. The Promenade is another popular location in Santa Monica. This is the elegant outdoor shopping center and has some of the trendiest stores.
Living in Santa Monica is a dream of many Californians. If you are moving to California, you would be doing yourself a service to move to Santa Monica and live on the pier or near the Promenade shopping center (if you can afford it). Overall, Santa Monica is a chill place with great people.
