San Francisco is one of the most populous cities in California, and is one of the top 20 most populous cities in the United States - and with good reason. Even though the city itself is rather small in area, it’s located within the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area. From baseball stadiums to the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco is a city rich with history. It’s most known for it’s immense amount of growth during the Gold Rush. This rapid growth created a vibrant city with a diverse population that still thrives today. Known as “The City By The Bay,” or simply “The City” by locals, San Francisco is known for it’s year round fog and Mediterranean climate.

San Francisco has recently become a hotspot for media-based companies, and many well-known businesses have got their start in the City By The Bay. The booming tech industry makes San Francisco a perfect place to live for those looking for something high-tech and modern, while keeping history close by.

There are many public transit options available for those that wish to commute that way, ranging from ferries to trains. The Golden Gate Ferry system can take travelers to many different locations across the bay, while the Bay Area Rapid Transit system (known as BART) is a commuter rail that provides swift travel by land. The San Francisco Municipal Railway (known locally as Muni) is the most expansive public transit system in the city. Muni operates a large network of buses along with a light rail and metro system along with San Francisco’s iconic cable cars. The cable cars themselves are a notable attraction and locals and tourists alike love riding them throughout the city, as they provide a unique and historic view of the city.

Though the cost of living in San Francisco is one of the highest in the state of California, many consider it a small price to pay for the experience of living amongst such diversity and beauty in such a historic city.
